My car kind of does this. When you open it the water falls into a channel that redirects around the trunk space. On a side note, this guy is really advertising to get his tools stolen.

This is a Pontiac Firebird, the water doesn’t dump into the trunk because that’s not a trunk… It’s a hatchback, the water is redirected by weatherstripping… Unless your Firebird is like mine and has bad weatherstripping >:(

No it doesn’t. I believe this is a late 90’s firebird and, if it is, then the glass open with the trunk

Should there not be an edge with a rubber gasket around the trunk body opening to redirect water?

Having still water sitting on the car is bad regardless, unless you are a mosquito breeder.

Uhhh I have a [2002 firebird](https://i.imgur.com/hxM7EIU.jpg) and I can confirm that it doesn’t look like that. The glass is part of the hatch, so when you lift the water goes to the sides

Your car is gonna get broken into if you just let all your tools be visible like that.

Actually it doesn’t.. You need new rubber seals so the water will run down the correct drain valley.

Why the hell is this upvoted so much, it’s a firebird, the glass is part of the trunk as it’s a hatchback

It’s so that you can give water to the person in your trunk without giving them any time to escape.

The WJ model Jeep Grand Cherokees do it the other way around: i .e. I was sheltering from the rain under an open boot for 20 minutes or so. When it stopped raining I stepped away from the open boot and closed it: The number plate well had filled with about a gallon of water which tipped all over me. It was a typically English summer’s day on the riverbank, flyfishing at a very high-brow venue chatting to other syndicate members, How we all laughed!!

My moms old Hyundai has a spot where if you load groceries in the rain, there’s a perfectly-shaped well where the license plate on the back hatch lives and as you close the hatch it dumps potentially a half gallon of water *directly* at dick-and-balls level into your crotch

That’s not a crappy design. The water will wash whatever you have in your trunk. You can save money on laundry and time on dishes!

Literally every sedan is designed like this. You open it and it runs down the windshield then off the sides.
