My wife and I were on our way to BC last October. We stayed in Whitecourt overnight and the next day it was snowing but not that much but on our way towards Edmonton it stared snowing pretty heavy and people were fucking flying by me at like 120km/h. I drive an F350 and stayed behind a transport doing maybe 50km/h because it was so damn slippery and the people who were flying by me we ended up seeing the majority of them in the ditch. There was even one service van (Savanna 2500) coming from behind me and I guess he didn’t see my four ways on while I was following this transport and he slammed on his brakes and went across two lanes of traffic and hit the guardrail.

Moral of the story folks is DON’T DRIVE LIKE A FUCKING ASSHOLE DURING THE WINTER

Of course a Koopa won’t put you back on the track. That’s Lakitu’s job.

This is why you don’t privatize Registries and allow them to have a “driving school” inside their office. I see so many people driving in Alberta who should not even have a license.

The other thing we need is mandatory snow tires in the winter.

I’d love to start up a tow truck business named Lakitu Towing and paint all my wreckers like the character.

A lot of comments about poor Edmonton drivers on here and I won’t disagree. But as someone with a 4×4 and 0 accidents, I want to add that driving around Edmonton this morning was the iciest I can remember experiencing it in the last 10 years or so. I was nearly sliding into curbs just taking a normal left turn after a traffic light!
Does it get slipperier if its below -25C??

I feel like they wanted to write, “for fuck’s sake.” at the end of it, but decided against it.

The EPS needs to get with the program, everyone knows that SUV’s and trucks with AWD or 4WD are exempt from the laws of Physics, and the bigger the vehicle the more exempt you are!
It’s magic, and those trucks and SUV’s we see in the ditch after a snowfall are there because they want to be.

Things like this make me a bit grateful for MPI here in Manitoba. Sure we have our share of awful Winnipeg drivers, but competency on icy roads is surprisingly consistent.

It was SUPER slippery out this morning, but it didn’t look that way! I was accelerating and couldn’t get any traction and was pretty confused for a moment before realizing the entire road was black ice. Literally the entire city was a skating rink for a few hours.

So many people in Edmonton think they’re good winter drivers since it’s almost always winter there.
