Counselor: “Actually, we called you down to the office to discuss complaints about your personal hygiene. Hey, cool helmet! Is that from Star Wars?”

See I get it that WW1 and WW2 are different and you cant call the germans in ww1 Nazis

But walking around in a Pickelhaube while with the war flag of the German Empire just makes you look weird and makes it look like you are trying to be a Nazi without actually bringing a swastika considering Neo-Nazis in Germany do that.

Also doing this just seems weird with any nation, I live in America and I would feel really awkward if I just showed at my school with a Broodie Helmet and waving around a U.S Flag.

I mean, he’s right, there’s a pretty big difference between the German empire & the Nazis, and a pretty big difference between WW1 & WW2, both in the ideology and the clarity of who was actually in the wrong.

But obviously going to school dressed like that is pretty neckbeardy. Unless there was some ‘dress like someone from history day’ thing going on, I’m not American but that seems like the sort of thing American schools could have, probably giving him the benefit of doubt though.

The day a man is persecuted for wearing a pickelhaube is the day that western society is doomed to fail.

Are you currently in a WW1 reenactment? No? Then why ate you wearing it?

At our high school, we were told to get in costume for our presentations. If that’s what happened and he tried to do WWI, I don’t see this as /r/justneckbeardthings , because if someone does genuinely confuse WWI and WWII that’s pretty bad.

I feel kinda bad for the kid tbh, he’s probably just a nerd who likes history and while it’s obviously weird to wear WW1 uniforms to school props to him for having the balls to do it.
