My dog knows how to lower the back windows if my dad’s car. He has to turn on the child lock it. Last time he opened the window to bark inside the car wash. That was fun.

my dog did this to my mom. Only it was in the summertime. Mom left the car running in the driveway to unlock/open the garage door. Taffy (dog) stepped on the armrest where the buttons were, hitting the lock. My mom and the neighbor eventually got the dog to unlock the doors the same way.

After an hour or so of trying to get her to step on the controls again she finally pressed on the window button just a bit, so I could climb into the bed of my truck lower the window and fall backwards on to the ground as I lost my balance.

This reminds me of one time my mom was getting gas at a gas station with our dog in the car. Apparently she ran inside to pay and the dog locked the doors behind her, so she sat there running back and forth around the car to try to get our dog to step on the unlock switch. The gas attendants were dying with laughter.

THIS IS STAGED, LOOK AT THE BACK WINDOW JUST BEFORE IT REACES THE BOTTOM YOU CAN SEE THERE IS ALREADY A SNOW LINE WHERE THE WINDOW WINDS DOWN. IMPLYING THAT THE WINDOW HAD RECENTLY BEEN WOUND DOWN. So this guy had obviously given it a few tries to show the dog that the outcome of pressing that button opened the window.

A similar thing happened to me about 8 years ago.

We moved into a neighborhood that was under construction and someone dumped a box full of kittens in the empty lot next to my house. We lived about half a mile from a humane society (probably explains the box of kittens) so I loaded them up in my jeep and went over there one hot afternoon. I didn’t want the kittens pooping everywhere in my car, so I put my backpack on top of the box, with the lid shut to keep them in.

Well I get to the humane society, and it’s HOT outside, so I leave the Jeep running with the AC on. I run inside, explain the situation, and spend about 5 mins convincing the humane society to take these kittens, even though they didn’t have any room. We go out to my car to discover the kittens had escaped the box, and were now everywhere in my car. They had also locked themselves in, with the engine running. I had just moved and my spare set of keys were about 2 hours away at my old place. These cats are using my leather steering wheel as a scratching post, peeing on the seats, barfing by the floorboards. Needless to say I’m not pleased.

The locksmith is quoting me an hour to get out there. This prompts the girls at the humane society to start to plan how to bust my windows to get these cats out, even though the car is running. I spent the next 20 mins trying to get a kitten near the door lock controls to step on the unlock button. Thankfully one of them steps on the button just right, and in the car I go.

Lesson learned, don’t leave pets in running cars.
