The FAW has been riding on the back of a lot of goodwill over the last few years as the results have improved as they were getting an absolute battering previously for their ineptitude.

This appointment proves that nothing’s really changed. Appointing someone who didn’t give the best interview ahead of Bellamy who had a clear plan for the direction of Welsh football and to integrate the youth players to the 1st team. Not saying that I was eager for Bellamy either but when he gave the best interview then give the man the job.

Instead we get someone who could never give a shit about us as a player, who’s a pundit for England when Wales are playing, and admitted faking injuries to avoid international duty. Coleman used to travel the country to do small, local events and get really close to local football clubs. Can’t imagine Giggs turning up to village clubs’ Christmas do’s.

And I’d like to see Giggs explaining to anybody the intricate playstyle of Jazz Richards.

No experience, hated by the fans, has a name tainted for what he did to his brother, lacked passion for Wales as a senior, only played for Wales because he wasn’t eligible for anybody else. What a nonsensical appointment.

At least now whenever there is a vacant Premier League position he won’t be automatically considered. Well, for the rest of the season at least.

Fuck off Giggs. Fuck off Welsh FA. I seriously cannot believe we’ve appointed this sad excuse for a welshman as our manager, especially after the success we’ve had recently. Can’t wait till 5th place finishes and empty stadiums for Wales games again

He could take us to the World Cup final during his reign and I still won’t accept that wet bin bag as our manager. How can he of all people attract respect?

Gary Speed had very little managerial experience when taking over the national side yet sparked a new era for Welsh football that eventually took us to a Euros semi-final. He wasn’t my first choice as a manager, but what else can we do but get behind him?

    Together stronger and all that.

I’m interested to see how Wales play under him, rather than just writing him off as a poor appointment straight away.

Shocking decision really. The affair aside, he was very disrespectful to the Welsh national team whilst he was a player and now seems to have finally conned his way into a high profile job like he was after. Possibly the most embarrassing appointment the FA couldve made? I’ll eat my words if he does really well, but even then I’m sure he won’t win over every Welsh fan.

Private-life aside, those saying “he never even played, wahhhhhh” should probably note that he was a massively injury-riddled player for most of his career up till his late 20’s and it was SAF that forced him to pull out of what were, essentially, needless friendlies.

Remember, he was playing in the days when we were being spanked on the regular by teams like Moldova, so it really bears no relevance.

Also, Bellamy was as bad, if not worse for missing games and falling out with people left, right and center. But he got a bit angry in a few TV interviews, so that’s ok, proves he cared?

If this appointment is purely for football acumen, i’d have plumped for Roberts, but of course there is the element of personality or the weight of the name attached, don’t be naive.

Then, if we’re talking about experience, Giggs is WAY more experienced at this point than Speed or Hughes were, so let’s get some perspective, rather than just jumping on the bandwagon.

He really shot himself in the foot saying he is suited better at the top. Because if he fails, and he has no experience or anything indicating he wont, where does he go. Wales is a hard gig for anyone.

He and Lambert are fighting it out for least popular appointment of the season today.

I wonder if there’s an alternative timeline where none of the tabloid stories were published, Giggs went straight from playing into managing a lower league team, and he’s viewed as a national treasure.

He was a golden boy as a player. It’s funny how public opinion of him has turned.

I can already see the next stage for him where he does a passable job at Wales and then moves on to complaining how the big clubs refuse to give young British managers opportunities
