I was asked to coach Tee-ball. I asked the previous coach what to expect.

“Ever seen a flock of seagulls going after a loaf of bread?”

I attended my nephew’s tee ball games and can confirm they were always hilarious. My niece would run after her hit ball every time when she played.

Been there. First time I played baseball (I was older than this) they told me to make sure I ran around all the bases. Naturally I stopped at each base, ran around it once, then continued to the next base.

I was stopped at home and my error was explained. I was told that I just needed to get to first, then second, third, and eventually home base as quick as I could. No running around each base.

So the next time up to bat comes. Small hit, I run to first base, and the play had already stopped. I didn’t know this. I run to second, passing the runner already there, through third, and all the way home. They still had some explaining to do.

I’m an American school teacher who taught 10 and 11 year old school kids in England in the late 80’s. Trying to teach them baseball was the hardest thing I taught them. They kept sneaking in rules of rounders into baseball.

I could hit left and right handed as a kid, still can. My coach told me to switch it up sometimes between the two. So I switched between each pitch. Was in first or second grade.
