Look at it this way: you get a bunch of extra seasons in a year, just scattered around randomly.

I walked outside yesterday and thought to myself, “wow it’s really warm,” so I checked the temperature and it was 30. I’ve never felt like more of a Michigander.

Drove to school in the pouring rain this morning, it was maybe 40 degrees out. ~8 hours later I’m leaving and it’s snowing and 19.

Honest question. Does everyone think their state changes seasons/weather fast? I live in Utah, and people always talk about it. As if we’re the only place where it happens… Does it just happen everywhere?

I just moved up here from Alabama in August. My students keep asking me if I hate these winters yet, and my answer is a resounding no! Even with having to learn to drive on snowpack/ice on the fly, and having to shovel my driveway, I’m totally in love with winter up here. My only disappointment is that there haven’t been any campus closings to give me implicit permission to go build my first snowman since 1993.

I woke up to the sound of rain this morning. I hit the snooze for 10 minutes then got out of bed, opened the blinds, and saw a goddamn blizzard outside.

The really great part is that, for those of us in Michigan, we didn’t even change the kind of clothing we wore. “Snow? Meh.” “Oh, look, the snow melted. Meh.” “Damn. More snow. Meh.”

I tell Texans how crazy Michigan weather is, that I’ve seen people swimming, a tornado warning, and snow in one week.

Now this week here in Texas it’s going to be 28 degrees one day and a few days later 70 degrees 🤷🏼‍♀️

Moved to California after living in Michigan my whole life. Moved back after 2 years. Aside from the expense, I found I was getting super depressed.

Turns out that although I don’t want to battle nature every day, I do like it when nature fucks with me just a little bit. Keeps the relationship spicy.

Honestly, Tuesday cold and snow still on ground, Wednesday rain, Thursday fucking 51 degrees, Friday fucking freezing rain and 14 degrees. Every fucking year. Oh look it’s January 27th and it’s 70 degrees. January 28: -12 and a foot of snow. January 29: why not it’s shorts weather. Every damn year. Oh you want to go to Zehnder snow fest? Tough shit it’s 60. Oh World Expo of beer? How about – 4 so you can freeze your ass off. 32 years of living here and I still would not move though.

I spent Tuesday shoveling snow off the roof. The next day everything melted anyway so the work was pointless. Then I started cleaning the gutters, but now they’re frozen. I tried, man.

We’ve had about the same in Indy lately. We had snow on the ground and negative temperatures for about three weeks, then two days of 50-60 degrees, and now right back to freezing with a fresh new coat of powder.

Frankly, I’m just grateful for the break from the negatives. Felt like summer.
