What a legend. I’ll never forget when he argued with Ventura that he shouldn’t be subbed on, but Insigne should instead.

And 14 years later, he finally achieved his dream – becoming Roma’s captain.

And to think 3 years later he’d be lifting a WC trophy.

One of my all time favorites. True legend. Sad that he (presumably)only has a year and a half left in his career and he will, in all likelihood, never win a Scudetto :'(

If you want more details on the game, and more photos of baby Daniele.

I can barely recognize him. Only in the one where he is going in for the challenge. That, there is no mistaking.

Forza Dani. One of my all-time favourites. Box to box brawler who defines ‘grinta’.

I remember how Capello protected him early on, after this debut he didn’t play that much and he slowly integrated him in the team. Good coach is extremely important for a young player, to overcome that step from first team debut to successful career.
