In East Yorkshire, UK, last week I was waiting for the last train back from work and it didn’t show up at all. 3 hours later they send out a message on speakers saying its been cancelled and a bus will come to collect passengers….

The bus had already been to the station and they hadn’t notified anyone.

I loved the precision when visiting. Really cut down on the bullshit. Nobody could ever blame traffic or the train being late because they were aligned to within seconds of accuracy.

I’ve been to Asia, a train leaving even seconds late gets a “woohoo” (internally of course) from everyone on said train, personal space wise, and a flabbergasted 200 ppl who all needed to board said train on time. The latter wins every time.

Also – all of this is fine behavior. I have no judgment as to how Asians use public transport.

Jesus Christ, the sheer magnitude of Asian cultures’ work ethic is mind-boggling. When your country has office employees dying from overwork, and napping on the job is considered a sign of dedication, you’ve got yourself a society with self-discipline coming out of its ears. Kudos, Asia. Just maybe tone it down so folks don’t die.
