Yet not once has Kevin De Bruyne had the integrity to clarify how Thierry Henry feels about this

As if attack or midfield is where City needs to improve. Sanchez was a “good to have” sort of transfer target anyway. They will be fine. Defensively though is a different story.

I mean It’s stil a loss to them.

I don’t think Sanchez at City would’ve improved them much but he’ll defintely make United much much better.

I think in the short term, this’ll sting. United get better immediately, and we still only have 4 forwards for 3 spots for the rest of the season. And this hurts our CL hopes this season.

However in the long term, we’ll move on and (in my humble opinion) we’ll be better off for it. If City still want to pursue a forward, — and I have no reason to think that they aren’t — now we can go after a younger target who’s best years are yet to come. Sanchez is a great player now, but I don’t think he’ll ever be as good as he was these past few seasons again. I also think that us not breaking our wage structure to sign a new player is a huge win for us. KDB has been here for 2 and a half years now, and just became our highest paid player, on 210k base wages a week. Imagine paying a newcomer over 100k more than that. KDB might be humble as anyone, but that would definitely tick him off.

For the future, now United have a player who’s probably not getting any better and is in his late peak right now, and will be paying big wages to a soon-to-be declining player that they’ll be unable to offload in the future. It’s going to help now, but that’s going to be a tough pill to swallow in 2-3 years. Look how sharply Wayne Rooney declined at 30, for example.

Has it been clarified somehow why he chose Utd instead of City? Was it over money or did City retract their offer?

This is exactly why Sanchez didn’t come though. With or without him, City would still play well and win the league. Him being there will certainly make it easier, but will not be crucial. At United, Sanchez will most likely be one of the main men, and whatever he achieves will be because of him, not because his teammates already put up ridiculous form for half a season and gained a 12-point lead.

Think Sanchez was more of a first team for now and eventually replacement for Aguero, as I can’t imagine he’s been happy being benched for Gabriel and Pep not favouring him
