Rhaegar annulling his marriage would NOT make his children bastards, being that Elia and Rhaegar were married at the time of the children's birth.

If Rhaegar was as obsessed with prophecy as much as we're obsessed with his obsession it's a wonder he didn't go mad. What if WE'RE the voices in his head. What if I'm actually Bran, but was once the Night King, but now I'm fighting a battle with the different magicks inside me, and somehow the night king is like.. a Horcrux, but wasn't expelled from me to live forever, but rather to eliminate it's hold over me. So now there's a part of me out there leading the dead, and my cousin will end up fucking his aunt and stopping the dark me which honestly.. just wants to soak up the sun on a beach in Dorne and then die. Before the negs.. I know Rhaegar didn't hear voices, Horcruxes are from a different fictional universe, and that the Children created the white walkers… but honestly when you start writing this stuff from these characters' perspectives some stuff starts to make sense. Just the idea of something like a Horcrux would fit perfectly in this place… first book was put out in the mid nineties… wouldn't be plagiarism.

We won't know till TWOW is published or ADOS … but there was no need for Rhaegar to annul his marriage to Ellia Martell. Targaryens had no problem with polygamy.
I think the show changed the character arc, they added the annulment to simplify matters.
    * It makes no sense for Rhaegar to believe in the 3 heads of the dragon, and then annul his marriage to make his 2 older children bastards. Rhaegar died before Aegon and Rhaenys were killed by the Mountain. And before Jon – Aegon 6th / Visenya (sp?) was born. *
The show writers have had other continuity issues on the show over the past 6 previous seasons. I think the annulment was just that … bad writing.
As to Jon being named Aegon … (maybe way back in 2008 or 2009 when GRRM told D&DB about his story or after book 5 in 2011 about books 6&7), about Rhaegar believing in prophecy and about his marriage to Ellia and his children's names, etc.
D&DB made notes, they either gave the notes to writers or they forgot specific details like Rhaegar having a son named Aegon already. Maybe Aegon's name was written in the notes or circled or something, then fast forward 3 years or 4 years later when those notes are used to write the scrip for that episode or season 7, whomever saw Aegon's name and thought that was suppose to be Jon's name?
Because Aegon and Rhaenys are mentioned by name previously in the show. Kinda ridiculous for Rhaegar to have 2 sons named Aegon. LOL If he had lived, if his children had lived. (And again I remind you, he died before Ellia and his children were murdered). Was he going to go around introducing his sons as Aegon 1 and Aegon 2? Or Aegon the 5th and Aegon the 6th? LOL Makes no sense!
Like I said, we won't know till book 6 or 7 are published. Wouldn't surprise me if GRRM told D&DB wrong on purpose just to screw with the show since D&DB have butched George's story (book 4 & 5). It's obvious George is not happy with D&DB. And it's obvious D&DB have checked out … they've gotten their fame and fortune now, they're ready to move on to new projects. They've said as much. Said they don't want to have anything to do with the spin-off(s). Watch some of their interviews, prior to mid-season 4, they were all enthusiastic and excited about GoT. Now they sound so bored when talking about GoT. The novelty has worn off.
Like "Thanks HBO and GRRM for making us rich, for making us once a upon a time nobodies very famous now, and for all the awards and accolades. Appreciate it! But we're done! Bored actually. Sick of this complicated story. See ya!"

I swear to the old gods and new, if there isn't a happy ending, I'll shove the iron throne up the producers asses. I've gone through Seven seasons of this show and the good guys better win at least fucking once in this damned show. Seeing Bolton fuck die was the best thing I've seen in this show.

Both of Jon's living uncles were in the Night's Watch… let that sink in
It brings so much more to that scene where Maester Aemon is calling for Aeg.
There's Jon Snow, or Aegon Targaryen.

Theory about why Jon will also be called Aegon in the books: After being assassinated, Jon will warg into Ghost for a quite a while, but somehow end up back in a human body. A specific person's body: Young Griff's. Jon will assume his identity and end up being called Aegon Targaryen, but for a much different reason than on the show.

Regarding the way Jon will handle his identity reveal, I believe that the scene between Jon and Theon in the finale contained some important foreshadowing. He said to Theon that Ned Stark will always be part of him regardless of what he's done, and that he was both a Stark and a Greyjoy. I think the purpose of this scene, beyond acting as a conclusion of the Reek arc and reincarnating him as Theon, was also to indicate how Jon will come to terms with the reveal: he may be a Targaryen, but he will also always be a Stark, regardless of his parentage, and quite potentially, he may also always consider himself a Snow. It also served to reinforce Jon's character as someone with a very strong moral compass, which has implications regarding his future handling of his genetic relationship with Danaerys, which may have some very important implications for how their personal relationship will develop (Danaerys as a Targaryen is likely to have less issues with incest than Jon). I think this scene formed an important part in predicting how the reveal will affect his future actions and the impact on everybody else involved.

My only complaint is I feel rushed like the way they got straight to some storylines but really would have liked them to take more time and care with others. That's why I fell in love with this show.

So I don't really know the sequence of events here: but if Rhaegar died before Jon Snow was born and before Aegon Targaryen (son of Elia Martell) was killed, wouldn't that mean for a hot second that Aegon was sort of King? In which case Jon Snow would be Aegon Seventh of his name as kind of a homage to the Faith of the Seven? Which I know this series does a lot: like Ned Stark raising seven children (five of his own children + Jon Snow + Theon Greyjoy)?
