At least they obey the law. These are the deer all others should look up to. So tired of seeing rebel deer disrespecting the crossings we make for them and just wildly crossing wherever they see fit. .

What if I told you that they put those signs where deer commonly cross, so seeing deer cross near on of those signs is not surprising.

Everytime I’ve hit a deer, it’s been a near a deer xing sign, they really should put those in places of lower traffic, it’s dangerous to cross a traveled road. I’ve sent out numerous emails, but I keep getting the cold shoulder!

They are actually required by law to cross at the signs but deer crime is so bad you rarely see it. It’s nice to see an upstanding family every once and then like the one you posted. It really breaks the preconceived notions that most have on deer.

I believe deer might not be as dumb as we think, ever since I woke up in Humboldt County at a staff camping spot near Reggae By The River Festival and walked toward a loud, weird screaming noise. I got to the edge of the road and there was a large assemblage of dreaded folk screaming in a circle across the road as the sun rose. I heard the bushes rustle near me (I stayed in cover) and looked to my left… a whitetail doe. I just looked back at the humans. I heard a lot more rustling and was surrounded by a pretty big group of does, a youngish buck and a couple fawns a ways back.

The first doe looked at me like “What the hell?” and I shrugged. Being tired, I said, “I know, I have no idea. Idiots…” The whole group of them watched me and I turned back and watched the screamers chatting and still holding hands. One of the deer grunted, a fawn bleated, and the brush rustled as they left. The Dreadheads suddenly became away and looked over. I turned slowly and followed the deer, then turned back to the camp.

They never bolted. I thought nothing of it, sometimes deer are weird and a little socialized from being in park lands. But on the last day of the festival, a whole group of people came up to me and started asking about my herd of deer. I told them what happened, and they lost interest in me, apparently believing they summoned some kind of forest spirit in the deer, or some such weird crap.

Maybe these damn deer know they have a better chance near the diamond thing. I wouldn’t doubt they sorted it after a little experience.
